Full Bloom Wood Duck
On the very last day of duck season I was awoken by Matt who I was hunting with. Got layered up and drove a couple of hours to the spot within an hour of getting there the ducks started to work. Out of nowhere without warning three ducks weaving through the trees came in hot as I threw up the gun I shot and downed him.

Southern Minnesota Gobbler
Before we set up about 50 yards away from where this big Tom was roosted, we set a lone hen on the field edge about 20 yards opposite the clump of brush we were hunkered down behind. After getting his attention with a few cuts from my box call, he flew down. Instead of coming right in, (like they do on tv), he proceeded to have a staring get contest with our hen. Within a minute he walked away leaving us to think he wasn’t interested. We knew better. There were still 4 gobblers roosted witin 100-150 yards around us without sight or sound of a hen. After 15 minutes of hard to get he returned. Even though he never strutted or even made a peep, his presence was certainly noticed. As soon as he finally gave into our decoy, he walked right past me, presenting a clean shot at 7 yards.
