Taurus T4SA: Designed and Built in the USA

Taurus T4SA

As you may have heard, Taurus USA introduced a new AR platform rifle recently. The new gun, called the T4SA, appears to be a quality rifle based on the specs and information released by the company. When it starts shipping later this year, and the gun gets into the hands of shooters, we will find out if the T4SA is as good as it seems.

One of the details I find to be most interesting is that Taurus USA states that the new rifle was designed in the USA and will be “manufactured entirely in the United States.” Presumably, this means no imported parts of any kind will be used in the guns.

It’s not that big of a deal for a company to build an AR rifle in the USA with parts sourced from the USA. A guy with a couple of hours to kill can do it in his garage. However, it is the second gun announced this year that Taurus USA is making a point of highlighting its origin. (The first was the Spectrum that will hopefully ship soon.)

I think this is significant, as it would seem that Taurus USA is making a conscious effort to move new gun construction to the United States. I don’t know what the cost breakdown of manufacturing vs importing into the United States is, but I’m not sure the move is a mere accounting decision.

Will we see additional guns designed and built in the United States by Taurus USA? I suspect yes, but only time will tell.
