Camp Perry hosts busy summer of competition
While he was duck hunting in the marshes along Lake Erie in 1905, General Ammon B. Critchfield took note that the area could provide an ideal location for a shooting range. Critchfield, who was serving as the Adjutant General for the State of Ohio, thought the site offered the opportunity for all firing to take place along a common line, towards the lake’s shoreline, with the benefit of an abundance of natural light conditions.
