Ruger LCRx .38SPL +P Review and CCW Pistol Rating System

In this episode of TFBTV, James has the opportunity to review the Ruger LCRx in .38spl +P. The Ruger LCR series of revolvers are lightweight polymer/aluminum/stainless steel hybrids in numerous calibers. The Ruger LCP has a monolithic aluminum frame mated to a polymer grip and trigger group module that results in an overall lightweight package. With the addition of a heavily lightened and machined stainless steel, PVD-coated cylinder, the LCP’s weight is further reduced to an air-light 13.5 ounces, while still maintaining a reasonable, sub-$400 price point. James tells you how the LCR performs in this video.

Moreover, James debuts the first official scoring system that he will use in reviewing CCW/subcompact pistols in the future. James will review the following features and assign a value of 0 (poor) to 7 (excellent) for each:

Size Efficiency
Fit and Finish

There’s also a reviewer “tilt” point that can be awarded or deducted based upon the reviewer’s personal opinion. The addition of these 8 numbers is multiplied by two the get a score on a 100 point scale. The score is then saved to a spreadsheet archive which can be accessed with the above link. The video contains a poll asking you to give your opinion of the new system.
