Awaken Iron! 1935 Texas Blade Ban Will Soon be History
Texas has decided to do something right, and remove restrictions on what types of blades may be carried by its citizens. Beginning September 1, the more-than-80-year-old knife ban will be defunct, as the bill passed both the House and Senate and has been signed by the governor.
The ban has been in place since 1935; it will be nice to get rid of such nonsense. Feel free to tote a machete, sword, dagger, or Bowie knife — except in certain locations such as bars, schools, professional sporting events, jails or prisons, hospitals, mental hospitals, amusement parks, churches or other places of worship, etc.
Wow, that’s a lot. And there are probably more restrictions as well; you can read the entire bill here.
It’s government, therefore complicated… but the upshot seems to be a little more freedom — and there’s nothing wrong with that.
