MasterPiece Arms announced it was introducing a new long gun called the MPA 65BA-SL Bolt Action Rifle.

The new MPA 65BA-SL Bolt Action Rifle uses the shooter’s choice of a MasterPiece Arms Tactical Aluminum Chassis or the company’s Competition Chassis. MasterPiece arms uses a Curtis Custom Axiom action. This action uses a three lug bolt with a 60˚ throw. The receiver is made of machined 416 stainless steel, and the bolt has a diamond-like coating (DLC.)

The standard MPA 65BA-SL Bolt Action Rifle comes chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and has a 24″ hand lapped Spencer barrel. The base model rifle has a barrel with a Sendero profile. Other barrel lengths and profiles are available.

MasterPiece Arms uses the West Texas Ordnance Switch Lug System. This allows the shooter to swap barrels in 5 minutes without affecting accuracy. This system allows for the use of different length barrels plus the capability of swapping calibers. According to the company, a single Torx wrench is all you need to make a barrel change.

These rifles use AICS compatible magazines, and a single mag ships with the rifle. As one might expect, there are a variety of other features on this gun – many of which derive from the company’s chassis. Some of them include:

  • Trigger Tech trigger with a 1-3 pound option
  • built in bubble level
  • night vision bridge
  • monopod (included with the Tactical chassis)
  • removable front bridge
  • Cerakote finish

The base rifle has a suggested retail price of $3,250. While that is out of range for many shooters, the company promises the rifle delivers a 3/8″ (or better) MOA.
