Why the Fear Over National Concealed Carry Reciprocity?
When the topic of gun rights comes up, why do anti-gun liberals go off the deep end with gloom and doom?
For example, in the early 1990s when Texas was talking about passing a concealed carry law, members of the anti-gun community talked about how Texas would return to the wild west. Visions were drawn of Texans having shootouts in the streets.
More than two decades (1995 – 2017) after the Texas passed its concealed carry law, none of the propaganda has come true. In fact, murder rates in Texas took a nose dive. We talked about gun crime in Texas in another article – Gun Control Advocates Resort to Synthetic Numbers.
The year after concealed carry was passed in Texas, murders went from:
- 1984, there were 2,132 murders in Texas.
- 1994, there were 2,022 murders in Texas.
- 1995, there were 1,693 murders in Texas.
- 2015, there were 1,316 murders in Texas.
In 2014 there were 4.4 murders for every 100,000 people. That is the lowest rate since data started being collected in 1960.
It has been proven time and time again, concealed carry reduces murder rates. So, why are gun grabbing liberals opposed to national concealed carry reciprocity?
From the LA Times – Mere weeks after Las Vegas, the GOP is quietly pushing a gun-lover’s pipe dream.
The NRA has made passing the reciprocity bill its legislative priority for this session.
The rest of the nation should make it a priority to stop this madness.
The LA Times goes on to cite a study that uses artificial numbers to promote gun control. It is the same study we discuss in “Gun Control Advocates Resort to Synthetic Numbers“.
We hope members of Congress have closely read the studies that have found that states with the most-relaxed gun-control laws tend to have higher rates of gun deaths than states with tighter controls.
Why use synthetic numbers? Because real numbers, as reported by the FBI, do not support the argument that concealed carry increases the murder rate.
If concealed carry reduces the murder rate, why do anti-gun groups oppose it?
This reminds me of the 1990s when gun control groups were in full propaganda mode. They were saying “If concealed carry was passed, people would be shooting each other in the streets. Rather than arguments being settled in a peaceful manner, gun owners would resort to shooting each other.”
None of the doom and gloom came true. In fact, concealed carry reduced the murder rate in Texas to the lowest point since the 1960s.
Yet, for some reason, gun grabbers are afraid of reducing the murder rate?
It almost makes one think gun grabbers are promoting an agenda based on fear.
