The Range Systems Sight-Bloc
The other day, I received a PR email with the subject line, “Replace Your Leaky Old Sandbags With A Sight-Bloc.” Well, leaky sandbags are no fun, so I decided to check it out… wondering what the heck a Sight-Bloc is anyhow.
Turns out, it’s a shooting rest made of recycled rubber combined with a proprietary substance that binds it together to create tough, durable material. Check out this page for some info on the material.
Back to the Sight-Bloc… it looks like it could be useful. Here are some specs from the manufacturer:
- Made from recycled rubber
- Will not deteriorate, freeze, or become waterlogged
- Stable and repeatable rifle rest
- Re-positions to three heights: 4, 7, or 9 inches
- Made in the USA
- SKU: RB5031
It’s not actually a new product… AO published a review of it (under a slightly different name) a few years back.
I’ve saved the kicker for last: The MSRP of $49.99.
Folks, I’m all about durability and toughness, which everyone seems to agree this thing has. But I’m also a fan of value, which seems curiously absent. $50 for a hunk of rubber?
Is this thing crazy-expensive or am I just a cheapskate?
