The new IWI Masada pistol

The new IWI Masada pistol

For a few days both the IWI Israel and the U.S. subsidiary of Israel Weapons Industries, IWI US, have been teasing us with pictures and videos of a new pistol.

The name will be Masada, which I think is great. As I’m sure you know IWI’s other pistol is named Jericho.

Sure, the name might confuse people with the Magpul / Remington Masada.

Masada is an ancient fortress in the desert, overlooking the Dead Sea. “Masada shall not fall again” is part of the swearing-in process for the Israeli Armoured Corps.

The pictures come from the official Instagram feed of Israel Weapons Industries and the IWI US subsidiary of Israel Weapons Industries.

Below: This is how IWI US started with the teasing. Not nice.

So what will the new IWI Masada pistol be like?

If I start guessing we’re looking at a full-sized handgun with polymer. The grip texture is resembling a little bit to the HexMag in some places, at least around the IWI logotype, but it’s difficult to confirm as there’s a hand in the way.

The magazines are made out of metal, with some over-molding. I’m guessing a capacity of 17 rounds.

Below: You can see the trigger here, Glock-like safety by the looks of it. The new CZ P10 also has a similar trigger.

There’s even a holster with the name “Masada” on it, proof enough of what’s about to be released.

So far I haven’t been able to dig out any pictures of the slide.

The texture looks well made. I’m hoping this is Magpul K2+ like, with some rubber-feel.

Metal magazine, with over-molded bottom.

V-shaped magwell. Notice that the magazine is grip friendly, in case (of emergency) and you need to remove it fast downwards.

The music in IWI’s Instagram video is Triumph of Light” by Phil Rey.

Watch the video. Do you spot anything? Please continue to guess below.
