Leica Announces a New Rangefinder: the 2700-B

Rangefinders are an integral part of kit for many long range shooters. Getting a precise distance measurement to target – at any range – can help a shooter put a round right where it needs to go. For anchoring a game animal, this can be critical. Wounding an animal is not what any ethical hunter wants.

Leica is well known in the optics community. From photography to hunting, Leica produces great glass. Its new rangefinder sounds like it might fit well with the company’s other gear.

The new CRF Rangemaster 2700-B is a compact model that is designed to be light and easy to carry into the field. It is an upgrade to the CRF 2000-B and can range distances up to 2,7000 yards with a degree of accuracy +/- 0.5%. At distances up to 200 yards, measurements are provided to the nearest 0.1 yard.

The unit has a built in ballistics program that can accept your custom data via a microSD memory card slot. The unit measures incline and decline, air pressure and temperature in addition to distance to help you place that first round where you want it to go. Ranging data is calculated within 0.3 seconds.

A single CR2 battery powers this unit. It is waterproof to one meter and has a temperature operating range of -4˚ F – 131˚ F. At moderate temps, you can expect about 2,000 measurements from a single battery. The MSRP on this unit is $899.
