Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost is recovering in an Atlanta hospital after falling and breaking his pelvis while working on a treestand.

Numerous reports said Yost, 63, was working on a treestand on his farm, about 60 miles south of Atlanta, when he fell. Yost is an avid bowhunter and enjoys working on his farm during the off-season.

While he coached with the Atlanta Braves, the team had a makeshift archery range in its old home, Turner Field. Several players in the 1990s and 2000s were bowhunters including Chipper Jones and Ryan Klesko.

Yost guided the Royals to the World Series championship in 2015. He has managed eight seasons in Kansas City, and guided the Milwaukee Brewers from 2003-08. He was inducted into the Central Wisconsin Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004 and earned the “Nice Guy Award” at the 2005 Red Smith Sports Award Banquet in Appleton, Wis.
