Watch: Steyr M9 A1 4th Generation 9mm Pistol
Sootch00 is at it again. This time he made another excellent video about the Steyr M9 A1 4th Generation 9mm Pistol. Out of all the YouTube personalities I subscribe to, Sootch00 is one of the best. He comes across as sincere and honest.
Steyr has a reputation for quality. For example, the Steyr AUG is known the world over, and has served in numerous military conflicts. Even though the M9 started production in 1999, for some reason it never gained the popularity of other imported handguns.
From the Steyr website:
- Caliber: 9mm
- Magazine: 17
- Trigger: Reset Action (double action)
- Grip Frame: Synthetic Grip
- Dimensions: 6.9″ x 5.35″ x 1.2″
- Barrel Length: 4″
- Weight: 1.7 lbs
- Threaded barrels are available from the factory.
- Colors: Black and O.D. Green.
4 inch barrel, 17 rounds of 9mm, costing less than $600 puts it right next to the Glock 19.
Overall, the Steyr M9 seems like a quality product that would meet the needs of most shooters.
The question remains: Why aren’t Steyr handguns more popular? According to Sootch00, there were some import issues when the Steyr M9 was released, but those were resolved.
Sights on the M9 are rather unique in that they are triangles.
One issue I see with the Steyr M9 A1, they are trying to compete in the Glock price range. Drop the price just $50 and it would be more attractive to consumers.
Let’s be honest, Glock sets the standard for all other handguns. If a company can not compete against the Glock reputation, then at least compete against the price.
Special thank you to Sootch00 for making another excellent video.
