Boston Globe: “Hand Over Your Weapons”
I keep hearing from gun control advocates, “relax, nobody wants to take away your guns.” But after every shooting, I read stuff like this: Hand over your weapons.
In the linked article, a columnist for the Boston Globe argues for a massive, mandatory, Australian-style “buyback” of tens of millions of American guns. He also seems to be endorsing the idea of a door-to-door gun confiscation, despite acknowledging that this would spur a lot of bloodshed before it’s over.
The author gives a nod to the facts that most gun owners already know, but the anti-gunners are still in denial about: most proposed gun control measures won’t do very much, and prominent Democrats in the past have essentially argued for confiscation.
He then concludes with the following:
Ultimately, if gun-control advocates really want to stanch the blood, there’s no way around it: They’ll have to persuade more people of the need to confiscate millions of those firearms, as radical as that idea may now seem.
It’s not at all surprising that this missive comes from Boston, the pants-wetting capital of the nation. The citizens of the erstwhile “cradle of liberty” will go into a city-wide lockdown over a misplaced backpack on the “T”, so the fact that they want to go door-to-door confiscating guns so that only their heavily militarized police force is armed is no shocker.
Anyway, bookmark this one for the next time your anti-gun Facebook friend tells you to relax, nobody wants to take your guns.
