Maverick Arms (Mossberg) Announces Recall on Hunter Shotguns

Maverick

O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. (Mossberg) announced a recall on a number of the Maverick Hunter shotguns that have incorrect markings. According to the company, a “small number” of the shotguns have markings that indicate the chambers will accept 3.5″ shells. In actuality, the guns are built for 2.75″ and 3″ shells only.

Obviously, Mossberg warns against trying to shoot 3.5″ shells from these guns.

If you own a Maverick Hunter, take a look at the chamber marking on the right side of the barrel. If it reads “12 Ga 3 ½” Maverick Hunter” then you have an improperly marked gun. Mossberg asks that you contact them by phone (800-363-3555) or e-mail (service@mossberg.com) to arrange for a replacement shotgun. Mossberg states it will provide a shipping label, so you should not have to spend any money for shipping this gun back.

The Maverick Hunter is an over/under style shotgun. It has a black synthetic stock and matte blued barrels. The barrels are 28″ long. It uses Beretta/Benelli Mobile compatible choke tubes. It has a tang mounted safety that also allows you to select the barrels.

If you think you might be impacted by this recall, you may want to visit this webpage: http://ift.tt/2iCnFG4 Mossberg has all of the information about the recall there along with a downloadable PDF on the issue. If you are so inclined, you can print the PDF and post it at your local club or range.
